Getting a tattoo removed doesn’t have to be a daunting procedure. Yes, it takes time and money, but it’s an investment in a happier future that does not include that tattoo you no longer feel good about. Once you make a commitment to having tattoos removed, it’s very important that you find a great clinic to have the removal done. That can save you money and time, and also help to reduce any discomfort you might feel as you go through the removal process. Choosing the right professionals to remove a tattoo matters, but that’s only one aspect of selecting a clinic.
Another aspect is ensuring the clinic you choose has right laser to remove your tattoo as efficiently and effectively as possible. There are many different manufacturers, and they aren’t all the same. Anyone who tells you two different kinds of lasers are the same is incorrect. Each manufacturer and the type of laser can have strengths and weaknesses, so the colors in your tattoo, how long you’ve had your ink, and other factors will all need to be considered before you start your removal procedure. Despite all that, though, the Astanza Trinity is far and away the best choice for most people when it comes to removing their tattoos as completely as possible.
What Is the Astanza Trinity?
The Astanza Trinity is a laser that fires on three true wavelengths, which are Q-switched Nd: YAG1064, Nd:YAG 532, and Ruby 694. These three lasers work together to remove all the colors that can be present in tattoos. It’s the most powerful of the different laser tattoo removal systems on the market today, and combines two lasers in the removal procedure for great results on the vast majority of patients. The wavelengths are 532nm, 694nm, and 1064nm, giving power and precision to the removal of all types of tattoos. For top-of-the-line treatment that will work even on stubborn greens and blues, the Astanza Trinity is the laser of choice.
With a three-wavelength solution, there is unrivaled power and precision offered by the Astanza Trinity. Many practices use other lasers, but they will not see the results that the Trinity offers. In order to be successful at tattoo removal via laser, it’s necessary to have all of the colors removed from the tattoo. Traditionally, blues and greens are very hard to remove, while black is the easiest color to break up and disperse from the skin. Because the Trinity is the best on the market, and through the advancements in technology it uses, it’s able to target all the colors on the spectrum.
Laser Wavelengths and Color Removal
Different laser wavelengths target removal of different colors. For example, the Ruby 694 laser cannot remove red because the wavelength is Ruby. To remove red it would be necessary to use the Nd:YAG 532. Knowing what wavelength and strength of laser to use means that the patient gets the best chance of removing the tattoo in the fewest possible sessions, with the least chance of damage to the skin. That’s very important, since the goal is to get the color out without leaving scars or other unsightly marks on a person’s skin. The Trinity can remove ink colors that other lasers like the Cynosure’s Picosure cannot handle.
The peak power that a laser provides is important in tattoo removal. With the Trinity, the pulse duration and pulse energy combine to create the highest level of peak power in the industry. There aren’t any other laser tattoo removal systems on the market that will provide more power or more effectiveness when it comes to removing tattoos as quickly and efficiently as possible. Patients see their tattoos start to fade quickly, and fewer sessions are generally required when the Trinity is used, even for stubborn tattoos.
Shattering the Ink Means Better Removal Ability
In the traditional types of Q-switched lasers, there are long pulse durations that are often between 30 and 100 nanoseconds. These heat up the skin for a longer period of time than the Trinity, which uses a pulse of just six nanoseconds. Longer pulses are effective for some applications, such as lasers that are used for removing hair. For tattoos removal, though, shorter pulse durations work better because the ink particles are very miniscule. When the short pulse duration is combined with high pulse energy, a “shockwave” effect is produced that breaks up tattoo ink particles more effectively than other lasers.
How Does the Picosure Compare?
The PicoSure fires Alexandrite 755nm with dye hand pieces, which is a different color, wavelength, and type of laser removal method than what is used by the Trinity. While it’s manufacturer, Cynosure, has done a great job of marketing their laser firing at picoseconds as opposed to the Trinity firing at nanoseconds, there are advertising claims made that simply don’t hold up to what the PicoSure can actually do. The Cynosure marketing says that complete removal can be attained in fewer sessions due to picosecond technology, but there isn’t any scientific proof of that.
In fact, there is currently a class action lawsuit filed in Chicago, which alleges that the PicoSure device doesn’t properly remove tattoos. In some cases, the lawsuit claims, the device doesn’t remove them at all. There are no such claims made against the Trinity. As for the PicoSure, there have been hundreds of them sold, and most went to dermatology practices. With the booming business of tattoo removal, it’s only logical that a lot of companies would get involved. But not every device from every company is going to work as described.
What’s the Story With Picosure Marketing?
According to marketing materials, PicoSure was supposed to remove even the most stubborn tattoos, like those that other treatments just couldn’t get rid of. That included the difficult blues and greens that past lasers had not had much success with. It sounded like a marvel of modern technology and engineering, and something that would be extremely effective in getting tattoos to disappear much more effectively than lasers of the past or other, competing lasers today. Unfortunately, the marketing and the reality didn’t match, and tattoos weren’t removed effectively.
What’s the Real Truth About Picosure?
The lawsuit alleges that PicoSure does not effectively remove tattoo ink from some patients, and that it was completely unable to do the job for which it was designed, manufactured, and marketed. In other words, not only was it not better than other options, it wasn’t even as good as other choices in laser technology, including some of the older lasers that struggled with blues, greens, and complete ink removal. Cynosure’s “fix” for the problem was to install a software upgrade, but in reality that did nothing to improve the Picosure. In fact, it led to burns on some patients and was still unable to remove their tattoos.
The Value of the Trinity vs. the Picosure
It’s pretty clear that the Picosure rhetoric is a problem. The abilities of the laser have been overblown by the company ever since the laser came on the market, and even though Cynosure isn’t backing down from its marketing claims, the number of companies and individuals in the class action lawsuit continue to stack up. This is not something that is just going to go away on its own. Because of the significance of the problems experienced with the PicoSure, laser tattoo removal clinics and anyone who wants a tattoo removed should be informed and know what they are choosing so they get results.
The Trinity doesn’t have any class action lawsuits, and doesn’t see anything close to the level of complaints that have been lodged against the PicoSure . Instead, the Trinity offers the highest level of power to break up the ink and the best wavelengths for targeting that ink. That’s true with a simple black design, and true with large tattoos that are full of vivid colors. The goal is to remove the tattoo in the shortest number of sessions, because that’s easier on the patient’s skin and also costs them less. Even in cases where complete removal can’t be achieved, the Trinity’s abilities are still for superior.
The Trinity Always Comes Out on Top
No matter what kinds of marketing claims the PicoSure device has, the reality of the situation isn’t the same. With the class action lawsuit against the manufacturer and many unhappy clinics and customers, it’s not hard to see that what PicoSure can do isn’t anything close to what the Trinity can offer. The quality and ability isn’t even comparable, and the Trinity wins, hands down. For anyone wanting proper tattoo removal from a laser that is going to work quickly, effectively, and efficiently, choosing a clinic that offers the Astanza Trinity for laser tattoo removal is the right option. Why pay more and not get the expected results, when the Trinity can be trusted to deliver?
